APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After upgrading the distributed queue manager server to
    WebSphere MQ (WMQ) v7, the messages sent to the WMQ v7 z/OS
    queue manager are not converted.
    This prevents the messages from processing correctly.
    at v6 to z/OS v7: CCSID=500 Encoding=785
    at v7 to z/OS v7: CCSID=437 Encoding=785
    .
    Additional symptoms:
    CCSID 819 333 500 1F4 channel negotiation
    receiver sender channel CONVERT (YES)
    The message is sent from the Distributed queue
    manager in ascii and the message is put on the
    z/OS queue as ascii. The z/OS application is
    expecting ebcdic data. The data was not converted
    although CONVERT (YES) is specified on the
    Sender channel.

    connected to z/OS queue managers.

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    WebSphere MQ queue managers on Windows and Unix platforms with
    sender channels using CONVERSION=Y connected to z/OS queue
    managers incorrectly calculate the CCSID during channel to
    channel protocol handshaking. This error results in
    data conversion errors when sending to the z/OS queue manager.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ queue managers on Windows and Unix platforms
    have been modified to save and use the correct CCSID during
    channel to channel protocol handshaking.
