APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When tablespaces are created using default options on GPFS file
system on DB2 9.7, No File System Caching is supposed to be
enabled, and is shown accordingly in db2look output. However,
internally, DB2 still uses the file system caching. It's
visible that file system caching occurs due to the increased
    I/O.

Local fix

  • This issue can be worked around by explicitly altering the
tablespace in question with no file system caching.

Problem conclusion

  • Fixed in DB2 9.7 Fix Pack 3. The default No File System Caching
is honoured for GPFS, after applying the fix for this defect.

Temporary fix

  • This issue can be worked around by explicitly altering the
tablespace in question with no file system caching.
