Error description
When a WebSphere MQ (WMQ) v7.0.1.0 queue manager is shutdown using the command "endmqm -r", connected WMQ File Transfer Edition (FTE) agents report a 2018 "MQRC_HCONN_ERROR", resulting in a an non-recoverable agent dump. The following messages may be observed in the agent logs: [12/02/2010 13:40:23:721 CET] 000000d1 FFDCImpl E BFGUT0002E: An internal error has occurred. Product failure data was captured in file FFDC.FTE.20100212134023690.38302.log". [12/02/2010 13:40:23:721 CET] 000000d1 ReplyProcesso E BFGTR0017E: An internal error has occurred. Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: This issue affects users of the WMQ classes for Java or WMQ classes for Java Message Service (JMS), who are connected to a v7.0.1.0 queue manager, which are making use of shared conversations between the client and queue manager. Platforms affected: All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) +Java **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: When the v7.0.1.0 queue manager is shutdown using the "endmqm -r" command, a message is sent to connected Java clients instructing them to reconnect. If the client is non-reconnectable, the result is that all the connections to the queue manager are disconnected. Subsequent use of the connections by the Java application may result in a 2018 MQRC_HCONN_ERROR message, which is unexpected as the client threads were not made aware of the queue manager disconnection.
Problem conclusion
The code fix associated with this APAR alters the behaviour of the Java client such that under these circumstances, the client throws a 2009 MQRC_CONNECTION_BROKEN message, to inform the client application that it is no longer connected to the queue manager. In the case of the WebSphere MQ FTE product, it is coded to recover from 2009 exceptions. Consequently the agents wait for the connection to the queue manager to be re-established. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v7.0 Platform Fix Pack 7.0.1.4 -------- -------------------- Windows U200323 AIX U835793 HP-UX (PA-RISC) U836458 HP-UX (Itanium) U836463 Solaris (SPARC) U836459 Solaris (x86-64) U836465 iSeries tbc_p700_0_1_4 Linux (x86) U836460 Linux (x86-64) U836464 Linux (zSeries) U836461 Linux (Power) U836462 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available, information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
