Error description

  • WebSphere MQ 7.0.1 introduces the function of automated
    client reconnection.
The Information Center describes 4 options for the new
    parameter CLIENTRECONNECTOPTIONS under the section:

    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/index.jsp?
    topic=/com.ibm.mq.csqzaw.doc/jm10910_.htm
    MQ V7 Information Center
Properties of WebSphere MQ classes for JMS objects

Column 3 in Table 1 for this new parameter shows 4
options, but none of them are valid when using JMSAdmin.

The MQ Explorer shows these 4 options in the properties page
reconnection field for a Connection Factory.
The Explorer is used 4 times to iterate each of the options
and then using the JMSAdmin utility to show the values
for the CLIENTRECONNECTOPTIONS. Only on 2 of these options
there is a value shown in the attribute:

MQ Explorer: Reconnect to same queue manager
    JMSAdmin: CLIENTRECONNECTOPTIONS(QMGR)

    MQ Explorer: Reconnect
    JMSAdmin: CLIENTRECONNECTOPTIONS(ANY)

The other 2 options are not shown:

    MQ Explorer: Default
    JMSAdmin: It is not displayed

    MQ Explorer: Do not reconnect
    JMSAdmin: It is not displayed

The expectation is that this attribute should be shown at
all times in the output of JMSAdmin, including the last 2
options above. Consequently, it should be possible to
use JMSAdmin to specify the last 2 options.

The ASYNCEXCEPTION option displays 1 or -1 instead of 'ALL' or
    'CONNECTIONBROKEN'.

Local fix

  • Use the MQ Explorer to set the 4 options for this attribute.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the WebSphere MQ v7 classes for Java
Message Service (JMS) who alter the CLIENTRECONNECTOPTIONS or
ASYNCEXCEPTION properties on a connection factory using the
    JMSAdmin command line tool.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) +Java
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The Info Center contained the wrong valid values for the
    ASYNCEXCEPTION and CLIENTRECONNECTOPTIONS properties.

The JMSAdmin tool had not been updated to contain all 4 valid
    values for the CLIENTRECONNECTOPTIONS property.

The JMSAdmin tool was missing the textual representation of the
valid values for the ASYNCEXCEPTION property.

Problem conclusion

  • JMSAdmin now accepts all valid values.
    CLIENTRECONNECTOPTIONS:
    ASDEF (default)
    DISABLED
    QMGR
    ANY

    ASYNCEXCEPTIONS:
    ALL (default)
    CONNECTIONBROKEN

The "Valid values in administration tool" in the Info Center
    will be updated as follows:
    WMQ_CLIENT_RECONNECT_AS_DEF change to ASDEF
    WMQ_CLIENT_RECONNECT_Q_MGR change to QMGR
    WMQ_CLIENT_RECONNECT change to RECONNECT
    WMQ_CLIENT_RECONNECT_DISABLED change to DISABLED
