Error description
When issuing a "controlled ending" of a queue manager: endmqm QMgrName or endmqm -w QMgrName in WebSphere MQ 7, when the QMgrName has a percent sign (%) in the name, the queue manager enters in Quiescing state and it does not terminate: C:\> endmqm -w QM%1 Waiting for queue manager 'QM%1' to end. Waiting for queue manager 'QM%1' to end. From another window the following commands are issued to see the status and to try to restart it: C:\> dspmq QMNAME(QM%1) STATUS(Quiescing) C:\> strmqm QM%1 AMQ7880: Error code 49 starting QM%1/Queue Manager WebSphere MQ service. An FDC with probe PU821050 is created when one such queue manager is started.
Local fix
Use the "immediate ending" command for the queue manager: endmqm -i QM%1
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Customers of WebSphere MQ v7 who use queue managers with a % character in the name. Platforms affected: All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: When a queue manager is started, WebSphere MQ creates a subscription for internal use. This topic string for this subscription contains the name of the queue manager in it. When a queue manager with a % character in its name is started, the topic string for the aforementioned subscription will also contain the % character. In topic string parlance, the % character is used as an escape character and due to this an error occurs resulting in the queue manager not starting up fully. The problem manifests when the queue manager is ended or PubSub services of the queue manager are made use of.
Problem conclusion
WebSphere MQ was modified to account for queue manager names with a % character in them and process them accordingly. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v7.0 Platform Fix Pack 7.0.1.4 -------- -------------------- Windows U200323 AIX U835793 HP-UX (PA-RISC) U836458 HP-UX (Itanium) U836463 Solaris (SPARC) U836459 Solaris (x86-64) U836465 iSeries tbc_p700_0_1_4 Linux (x86) U836460 Linux (x86-64) U836464 Linux (zSeries) U836461 Linux (Power) U836462 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available, information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
