Users Affected: All customers running TPC and using Brocade EOS SMI Agent 2.7. Problem Description: After running a CIMOM Discovery and Fabric Probe for this fabric, not all switch port to subsystem port connections could be retrieved by TPC. This is an issue with the Brocade EOS SMI Agent 2.7 that has been reported to Brocade. The user most likely will notice this when looking in the Topology Viewer Switch view that shows the connections from the switch to the connected devices. It's very likely that there is a mismatch between what TPC and the Element Manager or EFCM/DCFM show regarding the connections. This is known to occur while monitoring the Intrepid 10000, but may occur with other switches too. Summary of fix: The fix for this from Brocade is unknown at this time. However, there is a workaround for this issue from the TPC side. For the fabric probe in TPC, two different algorithms can be used. This issue only occurs with one of the algorithms, but unfortunately is is the default one when the probe is created. Therefore, it's necessary to switch to the alternate approach after the probe has run for the first time. Here are the steps: 1. Create a fabric probe as usual 2. Save the job configuration -> the probe will automatically be submitted 3. After the probe is finished use the TPC CLI as following: - Open a Command Window or Command Shell in the Operating System - cd C:\Prorgam Files\IBM\TPC\cli or cd /opt/IBM/TPC/cli -> if TPC is installed in a non-default path use this one here - tpctool -url localhost:9550 -user <user> -pwd <password> -> the user and password are the same used to logon in TPC GUI - tpctool> setfpplcy -fabric <fabric ww> -property CIM_ALG 0 -> use the fabric wwn for the Intrepid 10000 Director switch 4. After this command finishes successfully, go to TPC GUI and submit the probe again 5. Check the probe logfile named like user.probe_fabric_ProbeFabrics.xx.xx.log to have following messages in it: BTAFM0614I The task is to probe topology and zoning. The probe algorithm is CIM association. 6. After the probe finishes successfully, all port to port connections should be displayed in TPC. Please notice that after switching to the alternate probe approach, the run time of the probe will increase significantly. This is because the alternate approach is memory optimized and the default approach is run time optimized. Refer also to APAR IC68617 regarding a fix that is in 4.1.1 FP4 for the alternate probe approach.
