Error description
Customer has HATS 7.5 using SSL telnet connection to 3270 host, and is using Web Express Logon (WEL) for single signon. This is being accomplished using a custom credential mapper in the DCAS client, which is the HATS application, and it talks to the DCAS server. The HATS application runs fine for some amount of time, but after several minutes in a stress test (or about a week in production use), the communication with the DCAS server stops, which seems to hang all users. HPS5055 messages are logged in the HATS log, followed by HPS5145 messages after that time.
Local fix
revert to V6 level of the HATS application..
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of HATS applications that use DCAS * * for logon to host system. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: HPS5145 messages occur and DCAS * * activity stops under heavy load * * conditions. This causes macros and * * sessions waiting on the DCAS * * processing to time out. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Timing issues associated with thread synchronization in the DCAS code, provided by HACL in the HATS application, were causing a hang condition that was unrecoverable without restarting the HATS application.
Problem conclusion
HACL code was fixed and incorporated into HATS which resolves the thread synchronization issue. Fix is scheduled for HATS 7.5.1.
