Error description

• When using the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition (FTE) a hang
  is seen, accompanied by a NullPointerException

  The problem is triggered by a network failure but no error
  indication is returned to the calling application.

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  This issue affects users of the WebSphere MQ (WMQ) File Transfer
  Edition v7, and can also be seen by users of the WMQ v7 classes
  for Java Message Service (JMS) and WMQ v7 classes for Java
  
  Platforms affected:
   All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) +Java

  PROBLEM SUMMARY:
  In the case of network outage WMQ's internal representation of
  the connection is notified that the connection has broken.
  
  If the internal connection had become null, this notification
  failed and a NullPointerException was thrown.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code has been changed to ensure that the internal connection
  is informed of a failure only if the connection is
  not null.
  
  This prevents the NullPointerException from being thrown by
  the receiver thread.
