IC61824: CLIENT SSL SESSION DOES NOT GET FREED FOLLOWING A MQRC_CONNECTION_BROKEN ERROR

Error description

  • A customer uses a XMS .NET Client application to connect to a
    queue manager through SSL tunnel. The application
    periodically checks the connection and if the queue manager
    is unavailable, the application tries to reconnect. However, the
    attempt to reconnect fails with the error
    MQRC_SSL_ALREADY_INITIALIZED when the queue manager is available
    again.

    connections.

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    The SSL client connection was not getting freed following the
    MQRC_CONNECTION_BROKEN error. Though a subsequent connect
    request gets processed by the WebSphere MQ Server it will return
    with a warning and reason code MQRC_SSL_ALREADY_INITIALIZED to
    the XMS .NET layer. However, the XMS .NET layer considers this
    as a failure since it does not allow multiple SSL connections to
    the same queue manager in a single process. Hence the connect
    request issued by the XMS application will fail with
    SSL_ALREADY_INITIALIZED_CWSMQ0048 exception.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been modified so that the SSL session is freed if
    any WebSphere MQ operation fails with a MQRC_CONNECTION_BROKEN
    error.
