Error description

• After migrating from WebSphere MQ Version 6 to Version 7,
  applications using the WebSphere MQ classes for Java start
  failing with the following exception:
  
  Exception thrown : java.lang.NoSuchFieldError:
  com.ibm.mq.MQC: field MQCI_NEW_SESSION not found
  

Local fix

• In V7, the com.ibm.mq.MQC class is deprecated, and the classes
  in com.ibm.mq.constants are the recommended place to reference
  MQ constant values.
  

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  This issue affects WebSphere MQ Version 7 applications using
  the WebSphere MQ classes for Java that use the constant
  MQCI_NEW_SESSION.

  All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)

  PROBLEM SUMMARY:
  The field MQCI_NEW_SESSION, defined in the class MQC, was
  changed from being a byte[] in WebSphere MQ Version 6 to a
  String in Version 7. This meant that applications which were
  migrated from Version 6 to Version 7 received the
  NoSuchFieldError mentioned in this APAR.
  

Problem conclusion

• The MQCI_NEW_SESSION field has been changed back to a byte[].
