Error description
The label libvolume command may return ADSM_DD_LOG2 errors in the AIX errpt when using an IBM 3996 or Plasmon G series optical library with UDO drives. The volumes are labeled and can be used without error. . Customer/L2 Diagnostics (if applicable) AIX errpt will show: LABEL: ADSM_DD_LOG2 IDENTIFIER: 5680E405 Date/Time: Fri Oct 3 01:08:39 WAUST 2008 Sequence Number: 89285 Machine Id: 000xxxxxxxxx Node Id: NodenameX Class: H Type: PERM Resource Name: op3 Resource Class: optdisk Resource Type: ADSM-SCSI-OP Location: U7311.D20.060662C-P1-C04-T1-L3-L0 Description STORAGE SUBSYSTEM FAILURE Probable Causes ATTACHED SCSI TARGET DEVICE Failure Causes ATTACHED SCSI TARGET DEVICE SCSI ADAPTER Recommended Actions RUN DIAGNOSTICS AGAINST THE FAILING DEVICE CHECK PHYSICAL INSTALLATION CHECK FOR CORRECT MICROCODE FIX CONTACT APPROPRIATE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE Detail Data COMMAND 0603 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 STATUS CODE 0000 0000 SENSE DATA 0102 0000 7000 0200 0000 00F6 0000 0000 0400 0000 0000 0000 1213 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 FB80 00B0 FFF2 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 ERROR CODE . The completion code of 306 is DD_DRIVE_OR_MEDIA_FAILURE. Since this completion code means there could be something wrong with hardware or media the TSM device driver will log this failure to the OS error log. . *NOTE* 1) The corrections are specific to UDO1/UDO2 drives. 2) The drive behavior can be different on different platforms depending on the HBA and native driver. This means on AIX TUR will fail but on Windows or other Unix TUR might not fail, hence the error might not be logged in the system error logs. . Platforms affected: TSM 5.4 and 5.5 on AIX . Initial Impact: Low . Additional Keywords: log sense ADSM_DD_LOG2 3996 Plasmon optical UDO2UDO1 UDO
