APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After upgrading full repositories for a cluster to V7, cluster
configuration changes [example, ALTER QL(MYQ) PUT(DISABLED)]
are published by the full repositories to other interested
members of the cluster. If these queue managers are V5.3, the
administration message is put to the dead letter queue and the
    configuration change, is not processed.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of WebSphere MQ Queue Manager clusters with full
repositories correctly configured at the highest version level
(V7) but with other member partial repositories at V5.3

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The problem was caused by an incorrect version number in the
PCF header that version 5.3 queue managers did not recognize.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem is fixed by ensuring that the new PCF version
number is only used for administration messages intended for
    other V7 queue managers.

Customers that experience this problem will have applied
7.0.0.0 and started the queue managers. Future customer
migrations should ensure that the minimum fixpack level 7.0.0.1
is applied before first starting the queue manager.

To resolve this issue, this fix (IC59286), should first be
applied to the full repositories in the cluster, and the
command: 'REFRESH CLUSTER(*) REPOS(YES)' issued on the 5.3
    queue managers.

Messages on the dead letter queue, can be safely removed.
