APAR status

  • Closed as documentation error.

Error description

  • A new temporary event status "Failed By Mgr" was added
with code changes documented by APAR IC55610.

Prior to IC55610, if the TSM server detected a loss of
network connection, or a client scheduler session was
terminated due to IDLETIMEOUT, the TSM server would set
    the event status to FAILED.

The TSM client could reconnect and finish the operation,
but then fail to be able to update the scheduled event
to SUCCESS, TSM server would report ANR2576W message on
the second attempt to set the event status.

TSM server will now set an event to "Failed By Mgr" if
the status is set by TSM server due to communications
failure or timeout on the TSM server. This new event
status can be overwritten to a final event status of
SUCCESS or FAILED as appropriate when the operation
    completes.

TSM Administrator's Reference should document the new
event status under QUERY EVENT, and explain why an event
may be in this state, and what final event status it
    can change to.

Affected Levels: 5.4.4+ and 5.5.1+ TSM servers on all platforms
    Initital impact: Low

Problem conclusion

  • Add the "Failed - no restart" status to the QUERY EVENT command
output explanation. Add the clarification to the topic:

    Command Reference
        Administrative Commands
QUERY EVENT (Query scheduled and completed events)
                   QUERY EVENT client schedules

    Status
    ...
    Failed - no restart

Specifies an intermediate status, when a client session is
interrupted by a communications error or timeout on the
server. This status can be changed to a final status of
"Completed" or "Failed" when the event completes.
