Error description

  • It is possible to change the password for the main ISC
    installation ID (default is iscadmin), but the full steps to do
    this are not clear. If the iscadmin password has been changed,
    only using the ISC (Users and Groups, All Portal User Groups,
    iscadmins or via the 'Edit my profile' button), then an ISC
    and/or Admin Center upgrade can fail with errors similar to the
    following:
    .
    ISC upgrade failure (errors seen in the <isc_home>/updates/):

Local fix

  • To properly change the ISC installation ID's password, follow
    the 10 steps below:
    .
    1. Log in to the ISC as an ISC Administrator, or as the iscadmin
       ID (if the default was taken). Change the password in one of
       the two ways:
    a. If you are logged in as the ISC installation ID, you can use
       the 'Edit my profile' link located in the upper right corner
       of the ISC (near the logout) and fill out the required
       fields. Please note the 'First Name' and 'Last Name' fields
       are required.
    b. If you are logged in as an ISC Administrator other than the
       main ISC installation ID, use the following navigation:
    .
    Console Settings
      --> User and Group Management
        --> All Portal User Groups
          --> iscadmins
    .
       On the right side for the ID used during ISC installation,
       select the 'Edit' button (looks like a pencil) and fill out
       the required fields. Please note the 'First Name' and
       'Last Name' fields are required.
    2. Log out of the console.
    3. Edit <isc_home>/PortalServer/config/wpconfig.properties and
       set the following parameters to the new password:
    .
    WasPassword=new_password
    PortalAdminPwd=new_password
    WmmSystemIdPassword=new_password
    LTPAPassword=new_password
    .
    4. Verify that the PortalAdminIdShort parameter value in
       <isc_home>/PortalServer/config/wpconfig.properties uses the
       ID used during the ISC installation (default ID is
       iscadmin):
    .
    PortalAdminIdShort=iscadmin
    .
    5. Save and close wpconfig.properties
    6. Stop the ISC processes:
    a. For Windows, please use the Windows Services menu and stop
       the following two services:
    .
    IBM WebSphere Application Server V6 - ISC 6.0.1 Runtime Service
    ISC 6.0.1 Help Service
    .
    b. For Unix/Linux, use the following commands:
    .
    <isc_home>/PortalServer/bin/stopISC.sh ISC_Portal <iscadmin_ID>
       <new_iscadmin_password>
    <isc_home>/PortalServer/bin/stopISC.sh server1 <iscadmin_ID>
       <OLD_ISCADMIN_PASSWORD>
    NOTE: If you do not know the old iscadmin password, then you can
    just issue a 'kill' on the remaining ISC processes. You can use
    the command 'ps -ef | grep -i isc' to get the process ID.
    .
    7. Start the ISC processes:
    a. For Windows, please use the Windows Services menu and start
       the following two services:
    .
    IBM WebSphere Application Server V6 - ISC 6.0.1 Runtime Service
    ISC 6.0.1 Help Service
    .
    b. For Unix/Linux, use the following commands:
    .
    <isc_home>/PortalServer/bin/startISC.sh ISC_Portal
    <isc_home>/PortalServer/bin/startISC.sh server1
    .
    8. From a command line, change to the
       <isc_home>/PortalServer/config directory.
    9. Run the following command:
    .
    a. For Windows:
    .
    WPSconfig.bat action-update-isc-admin-password
    .
    b. For Unix/Linux:
    .
    ./WPSconfig.sh action-update-isc-admin-password
    .
    10. (OPTIONAL STEP): The password entries can be removed from
       the wpconfig.properties file, that were set in step 3, so
       the fields look like the following again:
    .
    WasPassword=
    PortalAdminPwd=
    WmmSystemIdPassword=
    LTPAPassword=
    .
    NOTES:
    <isc_home> default is:
    \Program Files\IBM\ISC601 for Windows
    /opt/IBM/ISC601 for Unix/Linux
    .
    Default ISC installation ID is: iscadmin
    .
    The ISC Administrator ID's password has now been completely
    changed. Any upgrades can now be re-tried using the new
    password.
