APAR status

Error description

  • The customer reported that if a system crashes, all Channel
Message Sequence Numbers (MSN's) are reset to 0 on subsequent
channel start, requiring a RESET CHANNEL on every SDR channel,
local and remote. This is because on NonStop the Channel Sync
information is contained in memory of the Channel Server process
and not hardened to SYSTEM.CHANNEL.SYNCQ until the queue manager
ends. The customer has requested that the channel
synchronization data be hardened at batch end not at queue
    manager shutdown as currently implemented.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • If a system crashes, all Channel sequence
numbers are reset to zero on subsequent channel starts after
the Queue Manager is restarted. "Channel sequence number
mismatch" error messages are generated in the queue manager
    error log.

Problem conclusion

  • The channel synchronization data will now
be hardened to the SYSTEM.CHANNEL.SYNCQ on batch commit if a
new PARAM - MQHARDENSYNC - is set on the MQ Pathway Channel
Server serverclass. If the PARAM is absent, the Queue Manager
will use the existing method of hardening channel sync data
    only on Queue Manager shutdown.

Refer to the WMQ V53 System Administion page 123 "Changing
the attributes of a serverclass when the Queue Manager is not
    running"

    Issue Pathcom command:
       ALTER MQS-CHANNELSVR, PARAM MQHARDENSYNC

Released in WMQ V5.3.1.2 fix pack for HP NonStop Server
