IC54114: NAS FILER-TO-SERVER BACKUP CAN RETURN "UNEXPECTED RESULT CODE 3 FOR PROCESS"

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• During a NAS backup to a file or disk storage pool using the
  NDMP protocol, the following message can be observed:
  .
  ANR9999D afremote.c(2473): ThreadId <58> Unexpected result code
  3 for process ### during NAS BACKUP FILER-TO-SERVER
  .
  The problem is that the MAXSIZE parameter for the storage pool
  has been exceeded.  TSM code should be changed to include a more
  informative message indicating the MAXSIZE parameter has been
  exceeded on the storage pool instead of a generic ANR9999D
  message.  In the case above, ### is a particular process ID on
  the TSM server.
  

Local fix

• Increase the MAXSIZE parameter on the destination storage pool
  using the UPDATE STGPOOL command

Problem conclusion

• The TSM server is updated to issue a new message, ANR1137E.
  ANR1137E will be issued if the maximum allowed file size
  has been exceeded in destination storage pool and all
  successor pools.
  The text of the new message is as follows:

  pools.

  Explanation: During the indicated operation, the size of a
  file sent from the client node is larger than that allowed in
  the destination storage pool.
  No successor storage pools can accept the large file.

  System Action: The indicated process ends.
  .
  User Response: Increase the maximum file size for one or more
  of the storage pools in the storage hierarchy to accommodate
  the file.
  An authorized administrator can increase the MAXSIZE parameter
  by issuing the UPDATE STGPOOL command.
