Error description
The problem is likely due to the disk query that does not take into account of detectability. When a disk is no longer detectable but removed resource retention has not removed it from the database yet, customer will see more disks reported than actual. When the removed resource retention kicks in, the correct number of resources will be shown.

Problem summary
USERS AFFECTED: All Users of TPC Reporting for Disks, LUNs or Storage Volumes, and File systems. RELEASES AFFECTED: TPC 3.3 ABSTRACT: TPC adds resources that are not detectable to overall capacities in reporting, and does not accurately account for virtual machine file system and disk resources. PROBLEM SUMMARY: If Removed Resource Retention (RRR) is set, a resource that is determined to no longer exist is counted in the capacities for TPC Data Manager reporting. Also, the adjustment required to account for virtual machine file system and disk resources is not consistent across the dashboard and the TPC Data Manager reports.
Problem conclusion
Removed Disk, LUN or Storage Volume, and File System resources will be reported in a way that is consistent across the TPC dashboard and the TPC Disk and Data reports. The full details of these changes need to be documented in TPC manuals and the descriptions of the affected reports. The code changes will be available in the upcoming IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center v3.3.0 interim fix. It will be available for download from the support web site. http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=1134&context=SS8JFM& context=SSESLZ&dc=D400&uid=swg24017496&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=e n Below are links to updated online documentation done for version 3.3.2 that describe the details associated with APAR IC53062. Changes with respect to support for HDS USP are not applicable for the lower levels of IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center.
