Error description
Citibank's requirement is to replace all unrecognizable characters in the views in the ReqPro client, replacing some, but not all, will not meet their needs. Implementing a full solution to this problem is extensive and would require design, development and testing resources. This would also be deliverable in a major release. Implementing a partial solution to this problem introduces risk for IBM and Requisite Pro. The partial solution would be to replace only the unrecognizable characters that are graphics. Any character created from a bulleted list, a table or other imbedded objects would appear as they appear today. This would be a risk because of the following issues: This will not meet Citibank's requirement. Distributing this would require a release. The next possible release available would be SR6, estimated to be available to customers in Fall '05. This does not meet Citibank's requirement for a solution by the end of May 2005. This could potentially create additional defects by having a usability problem. Customers could think that the remaining unrecognizable characters should also be replaced. Current customers are used to seeing the characters the way they appear today. Changing this may cause additional support calls and customer issues. How the characters are replaced is not defined. It could be replaced with the word: <Graphic> or another option not defined. What is the best option? Best case, implementing this would require 5-10 days of development time and unknown amount of design and testing time.
