IC43955: AN INVALID VERB FROM TSM CLIENT CAN CAUSE TSM SERVER TO CORE DUMP

Error description

  • An invalid verb from the TSM Client can cause TSM Server to
    crash. following is seen before in the activity log before
    the crash:
    
    12/07/04   22:09:07      ANR0444W Protocol error on session 3128
                             for node
                             SEZSOLSR0085 (WinNT) - out-of-sequence
                             verb
                             (type AuthQry) received. (SESSION:
                             3128)
    
    The problem is caused by an invalid length pointer in a verb
    sent by the client . This can happen with different verbs.
    following trace back is seen during the crash of the TSM server.

Local fix

  • The problem is seen when client tries to update password because
    of passwordaccess generate. removing 'passwordaccess
    generate' and either putting 'passwordaccess prompt' or
    'password xxxx' will stop core dumps.
