Error description
"Visual C++ Runtime error IBM(R) Rational(R) RequisitePro(R) tight integration with IBM Rational SoDA " When IBM (R) Rational(R) SoDA (R) report is generated while a IBM Rational RequisitePro document is open. Steps to reproduce this behavior: 1) Open IBM Rational RequisitePro Project 2) Open any IBM Rational RequisitePro Document 3) Tools menu -> Generate IBM Rational SoDA report 4) This calls another instance of MS-Word (Total of two MS-Word instances. One IBM Rational RequisitePro and one IBM Rational SoDA for Word) 5) Select the New instance of MS-Word from the Windows Task Bar 6) In the IBM Rational SoDA dialog box select any template and generate 7) Both instances of Word minimize and the IBM Rational SoDA progress bar appears while generating the report 8) When finished it will ask to save the IBM Rational SoDA for Word Report (Denoted by the RPT attached to the name of the document "TemplateNameRPT.doc") Behind this dialog box is the following error message "IBM Rational SoDA for Word2003 Unexpected error has occurred. Please restart Word and try again. If this error persists please contact technical support." 9 A1) If yes is selected the dialog box and Report window closes (The report is saved in C:\Program Files\Rational\SoDAWord\Temp) IBM Rational SoDA for Word's Template is left open and it displays the IBM Rational SoDA menu and the IBM Rational RequisitePro menu RequisitePro's Document is left open and it displays the Rational RequisitePro menu MS-Word's Document 1 is left open no IBM Rational SoDA or IBM Rational RequisitePro menu's 9 A2) When closing the Rational SoDA for Word Template MS-Word returns the following error "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." available options are to "send error report" or "don't send error report" 9 A3) When this error dialog box is closed or either option is selected the following error appears "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Visual C++ Runtime Error ! C:\Program Files\Rational\SoDAWord\Domain\reqproreport.exe abnormal program termination" 9 A4) The only option here is "OK". When the error is OK'd the IBM Rational RequisitePro Document closes out along with the IBM Rational SoDA for Word Template. 9 B1) If no is selected the dialog box and Report window closes 9 B2) When closing the IBM Rational SoDA for Word Template MS-Word returns the following error "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." available options are to "send error report" or "don't send error report" 9 B3) When this error dialog box is closed or either option is selected the following error appears "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Visual C++ Runtime Error ! C:\Program Files\Rational\SoDAWord\Domain\reqproreport.exe abnormal program termination" 9 B4) The only option here is "OK". When the error is OK'd the IBM Rational RequisitePro Document closes out along with the IBM Rational SoDA for Word Template. This scenario works fine in IBM Rational Suite 2002.05.20 and 2003.06.00. Microsoft, Windows, Windows NT, and the Windows logo are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States, other countries, or both.
Local fix
1) Open IBM Rational SoDA for Word first. Start -> Programs -> Rational Software -> IBM Rational SoDA for Word 2) Open IBM Rational RequisitePro Project. 3) Open IBM Rational RequisitePro Document 4) Generate IBM Rational SoDA Report ( use any template even the one's that use the current document) This works to get a IBM Rational SoDA report to generate.
Problem summary
This is re-producible in McKSR2.280 and it is working fine in McKinley SR3.355. Also this have been verified with SoDA McKSR3 latest local build and found it is working fine. This problem might have been fixed indirectly.
Problem conclusion
Fixed in XDE 2003.06013
