Pressing the refresh button from the Getting Started Page will
    also produce the error.

Local fix

  • There are currently a few different work around for this issue
so that you do not see the error message:

1.Enable the Disable script debugging check box.
      a. Open Internet Explorer
      b. Go to Tools / Internet Options
      c. Click the Advanced Tab
      d. Check the Disable script debugging

    2. Clicking No to the debug question in the dialog box that is
displayed appears to allow normal operation of RUP.

    3. Access RUP through a link on a web page

    4. Access RUP by typing it directly into the URL line.

Problem summary

  • The problem occurs when using old JRE versions such as
    1.4.0_02
or 1.4.1_ 04 and Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0. It
    works as expec
ted with IE and newer JREs (i.e.: 1.4.1_07,
    1.4.2 and 1.5.0) or
    with Firefox/Mozilla and any JRE.

Problem conclusion

  • this bug is a side effect of fix for SUN bug #4516042
    (http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4516042)
. Pumping messages while JavaScript-?Java call is being
    executed is causing this problem.
