Error description

  • Problem Scenario (Step by Step):
    1. Set French as Regional Language in the Windows settings
(the comma must be the decimal separator)
    2. Start CATIA V5
    3. Open the file " ENSEMBLE.CATProduct ".
    4. Activate the workshop "Equipements & Systems > Electrical
Harness Discipline > Electrical Wire Routing .
    5. Create the electric harness with "Harness g←om←trique1" as
    reference.
    6. Use the function " Select external systems " and choose
    "H200_Fils" as current system.
    7. Use the command " automatic Routing of the wires ": Select
all the wires " as 'wire / group ofwires to forward " and
    click on "route".
Result: The report of routing is in accordance and all is
    correct.
    8. Execute the update.
    9. Activate the workshop " Equipments and Systems >
Electrical Harness Discipline > Electrical Harness Assembly
    ".
    10. Execute the command " Measure geometrical bundle inertia
    " and select " Harness ←lectrique1 " (Electrical Bundle1).
Result: a section "Paremeters" containing "Equivalent_xxx",
appears in the geometrical harness (cf. image_002).
    11. Execute the command " Measure inertia " and select the
    product root " Product2 ".
Result: The result is correct. The mass of the harness
corresponds well to the wires + connectors ( image_003 ):
    0,456kg
    12. Close the product
    13. Repeat the steps 3. to 11, replacing H200_fils by
    H200_Cable at the point 6.
Note that in the point 7, it is not possible to select only
the wires as the objects to be forwarded. Only the selection
of the group of wires is possible.
ERROR: In the point 10, note that the setting
    Equivalent_masse is 0 ( image_004 ). The measures of the COG
and the mass does not display.
The mass of the wires is not taken into account in the
    inertia measure (image_005).
Expected behavior: the mass of the routed wires should be
taken into account, either they are in a wiregroup or not.

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON Virtual Design VERSION V5R22
    GA level.
NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R20 SP7.
NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R21 SP2.
    Additional Closure Information:
    Technical explanation of the defect:
Wires inside a Wire Group were not taken into consideration
    while calculating GBN inertia.
    Technical explanation of the correction:
While calculating Mass and CoG of the GBN, only wires were
taken into consideration. Added code to take into
consideration all the Wires (including wires inside the Wire
    Groups) for calculating the mass.
