    Additional Closure Information:
    Incident Diagnosis:
CATIA export PDF in version 1.3.
The minimum allowed page size is 3 by 3 units in
    default user space; the maximum
is 14,400 by 14,400 units. In versions of PDF
    earlier than 1.6 (Acrobat
7.0), the size of the default user space unit was
fixed at 1?72 inch, yielding a
minimum of approximately 0.04 by 0.04 inch and a
    maximum of 200 by 200
    inches.
Beginning with PDF 1.6, the size of the unit may
    be set on a page-by-page
basis; the default remains at 1/72 inch.
In PDF versions earlier than PDF 1.6, the size of
    the default user space
unit is fixed at 1?72 inch. In Acrobat viewers
    earlier than version 4.0, the
minimum allowed page size is 72 by 72 units in
default user space (1 by 1
inch); the maximum is 3240 by 3240 units (45 by 45
    inches). In Acrobat
versions 5.0 and later, the minimum allowed page
size is 3 by 3 units (approximately
0.04 by 0.04 inch); the maximum is 14,400 by
    14,400 units
    (200 by 200 inches).
Beginning with PDF 1.6, the size of the default
user space unit may be set
with the User Unit entry of the page dictionary.
Acrobat 7.0 supports a maximum User Unit value of
75,000, which gives a maximum page dimension
    of 15,000,000 inches (14,400 * 75,000 * 1?72). The
    minimum
User Unit value is 1.0 (the default).
    By-Pass:
    none
    Development Request Justification:
Creating PDF version 1.6 require a strong study,
indeed improvement for exporting PDF in version
from 1.3 to 1.6, is not only affected the page
size limit. The support of the relevant features
improvement from version 1.3 to 1.6 requires to
    develop new functionality such as:
    First of all,
    - New transparent imaging model, which extends the
opaque imaging model of earlier versions to
include the ability to paint objects with varying
degrees of opacity, allowing previously painted
objects to show through. (version 1.4)
    But Also,
    - Specification of the PDF version in the document
    catalog
    - Additional viewer preferences for controlling
the area of a page to be displayed
    or printed
    - Metadata streams, a new architecture for
    attaching descriptive information to
PDF documents and their constituent parts
    - An extension to the use of streams to allow
    greater compression of PDF files.
And for what the client is interesting in this IR,
    - The ability to specify the size of the unit in
    default user space, enabling the
maximum page size of a PDF document to be increased.
