Error description
ABSTRACT: Measure by Picking Point shows exact - should be approximate SCENARIO: 1. Open CATIA V5 2. Create a new Part. 3. Create a new sphere 4. Create a point for the center at 0,0,0. 5. Change 3d Accuracy to 0.50 in Tools -> options. 6. Select Measure. 7. Change Selection 1 mode = Picking Point 8. Change Selection 2 mode = Any geometry 9. Change Calculation mode = Exact else Approximate 10. Select the surface of the Sphere for the first point. 11. Do not move the mouse. 12. Select the surface of the sphere for the second point. 13. Note: the calculation mode is Exact. 14. Select Create Geometry 15. Select First Point 16. Select Second Point 17. Select OK 18. Examine the Points. RESULT: The first point is not on the surface (created on tessalated geometry). The second point is on the surface. EXPECTED RESULT: Since the first point is not on measuring surface geometry this should not be an exact measurement.

Comments
Dear Customer: we have reviewed the problem report you submitted and determined that the function referenced is working within the scope of the original design specification. However we recognize the value of your feedback and will consider including resolution of this issue as a product enhancement in a future release, if one is made available. We thank you for your input. Additional Closure Information: Fix for this problem could be forcing the computation type to be approximate when either or both of the selected objects for "Measure Between" command is "Picking Point". But this may lead to regression, because the type of Measure would now always be Approximate for the case mentioned above. A detail analysis and impact analysis should be done to check the solution mentioned above.
