HE06785: SMARTEAM CAUSES SOLIDWORKS PROBLEM IF PART WITH EXTERNAL REFEREN CE IS OPENED

APAR status

• Closed as Permanent restriction.

Error description

• Scenario:
  1. Have Assembly with 2 Parts: P1 and P2.
  2. P2 is defin with In Context link to the Assembly.
  3. Save Assembly to SMARTEAM and Check In.
  ==> All objects are Rev a.
  4. Check Out P2 for Edit.
  ==> Assembly is only copy to Work dir.
  5. Modify P2 and check in. P2 Rev b is checked in.
  ==> Assembly is link to P2 Rev a as child.
  6. Select P2 Reb b and do Open For, Open for Read-Only.
  ==> Copy View is open for P2 Rev b. Assembly (In Context To
  link) is set to No Operation.
  7. Do OK on Copy view.
  ==> Get message: cannot locate Assembly file, do you want to
  search in database?
  8. Click yes.
  ==> Get Lifecycle Evaluation report with warning 02336: File
  of P2 Rev a already exist, it cannot be replaced by file of
  P2 Rev b
  9. Do Continue on report.
  ==> KO: No files are open. SolidWorks application is stuck.
  Need to kill session to keep working.
  Expected: File of P2 Rev b should be open in SolidWorks.

  Define LC rules for SW In Context link we need to set
  Following for Original Operation = Copy File(Normal):
  Destination operation as ???Copy File ???.
  Using the above workaround for life cycle setting the crash
  or hang issue is no longer reproduced.
