Error description

  • ABSTRACT:SmarTeam and SolidWorks Toolbox Integration issue
    when Toolbox Add-In is added during the SolidWorks session
    .
    SCENARIO:
    Description:
    There is a SmarTeam SolidWorks Toolbox integration problem
    that is dependent on the order that SolidWorks Add-Ins are
    added in. The problem only occurs if SmarTeam
    is added in before SolidWorks Toolbox Browser. It doesn't
    matter if this is done during Startup or not. So, as long as
    Toolbox is added in before or at the same time as
    SmarTeam, the integration works fine.
    SETUP:
    ------
    1. Launch Solidworks and login to the SmarTeam Integration
    with admin.
    2. Go to the Tools -> Add-Ins... panel
       * Deselect the SolidWorks Toolbox and the SolidWorks
    Toolbox Browser
       * Select to activate SmarTeam and select to launch it on
    Start Up.
       * Click OK to save these settings.
    3. Go to the Tools -> Options... panel and select Hole
    Wizard/Toolbox
       * make sure a valid Hole Wizard and Toolbox folder is
    selected and then click on the Configure... button.
    4. Select the link for "3.Define user settings"
       * Select "Create Parts"
       * Enter your SmarTeam Work folder as the "Create parts in
    this folder:" field.
       * Select the "Error when writing to a read-only document"
    option
       * Click on the Save icon at the top oc the Toolbox panel.
    5. Close the Toolbox panel and click OK to close the System
    Options - Hole Wizard/Toolbox window.
    6. File -> Exit to close SolidWorks and end the SmarTeam
    Integration.
    SCENARIO:
    ---------
    1. Open the SmarTeam Work folder and clear any files from it.
    2. Launch SolidWorks and login to the SmarTeam Integration
    with admin.
    3. Turn on the Toolbox Add-in
       * Tools -> Add-Ins...
       * Select to activate the SolidWorks Toolbox and the
    SolidWorks Toolbox Browser
       * Click OK to save the update.
    4. Start a New Assembly
       * File -> New... Assembly
       * Click OK to start the new assembly
       * Click the red X to close the Add Component panel on the
    left.
    5. Add a Toolbox Part to the Assembly
       * Click the Design Library icon to expand it.
       * Expand Toolbox
       * Expand Ansi Inch
       * Expand Bearings
       * Select Ball Bearings
       * Select the Instrument Ball Bearing... from the catalog
       * Drag and drop it to the SolidWorks desktop.
    ==> The Properties panel is displayed for the part.
    6. Select any desired set of properties.
       * Select a Size from the Properties panel or accept the
    default.
       * Display: may be either Detailed or Simplified
       * Cage: may be either No cage or Add cage
    7. Select OK (green check mark)
    ==>> You will receive no errors. Solidworks will present you
    with another instance of the part.  <<== This is the problem.
    8. Click the red X for No to close the Insert Components
    panel.
    9. Click the SmarTeam icon to open the DMT
    10. Note the Assembly and Part icons -
       * The icon is set to New  <<== This is the problem.
       ==> If the Assembly Part was existing in SmarTeam, it
    would show as a Released Standard Part icon.
       ==> If the Assembly Part did not exist in SmarTeam, a
    standard profile card would be presented and then an
    automatic
    release would occur and then it would show as a Released
    Standard Part icon.
    11. File -> Close and select No to not save changes to the
    assembly.
    12. Setup the Toolbox and Toolbox Browser to launch on Startup
        * Tools -> Add-Ins...
        * Select the SolidWorks Toolbox and SolidWorks Toolbox
    Browser
        * Select the Startup option for the SolidWorks Toolbox
    and SolidWorks Toolbox Browser
    13. Close SolidWorks
    14. Open the SmarTeam Work folder and clear any files from it.
    15. Launch SolidWorks and login to the SmarTeam Integration
    with admin.
    16. Start a New Assembly
    17. Add a Toolbox Part to the Assembly
    ==> The Properties panel is displayed for the part.
    18. Select any desired set of properties.
    19. Select OK (green check mark)
    ==> This time a Standard Part Profile Card Appears <<== This
    is the desired behavior.
    20. Note the Assembly and Part icons -
        * A Released Standard Part icon is presented.  <<== This
    is the desired behavior.
    .
    RESULT:- It doesn't give Standard Part Profile card while
    adding part from Toolbox.
