Error description

  • Scenario:
    1. Have a big Assembly Checked In.
        Assembly have many levels.
    2. Do Check Out to Assembly with Propagate Operation to all
    components.
    3. Open SolidWorks and Login SMARTEAM. Open Assembly in
    SolidWorks.
==> Measure time for open is reasonable (e.g. 30 sec).
    4. Check In Assembly and all components.
    5. Do Open for Edit to some Parts. Modify Parts with
    SolidWorks.
    6. Check In Part and do: Overwrite Previous Revision.
    7. Select Assembly and do Check Out.
==> Keep all components as Copy operation.
    8. Open Assembly in SolidWorks.
==> KO: Time to open Assembly is not accepted.
It may take now about 2 minutes.
This is about 400% overhead vs. Assembly with
    no Modified parts.
Notice: Because of steps #5 and #6 Assembly consists with
    many Modified Components.
All Sub-Assemblies are open as Read-Only however
    they have modified Parts.
Open dialog: Show Modified Components and see a
very long list of modified components.
The more Modified Components you have in list, the longer it
    takes to open Assembly.
Expected: Overhead for this scenario should not be that much.
If Assembly consists with hundreds of
Sub-Assemblies / Parts and can get up to 600% overhead.
This is not accepted by Customer.
