Comments

  • Dear Customer: we have reviewed the problem report you
submitted and determined that the function referenced is
working within the scope of the original design
specification. However we recognize the value of your
feedback and will consider including resolution of this issue
as a product enhancement in a future release, if one is made
available. We thank you for your input.
    Additional Closure Information:
    Incident Diagnosis:
A Publication is broken after a synchronization process.
    Development Request Justification:
    1) Launching the Replace command via Edit/Links is different
    from the Replace command
    launched within a CATPart.
    2) By default, updating the Part on V5 levels launches the
Synchronization process. So the step that specifies that the
Synchronization should not be launched doesn?t have
significance, because it is launched when the Part is updated
due to which one of the publication is seen to be broken.
    3) The Replace command is root cause in this scenario because
it is called in the Synchronization command.
The Synchronization command tries to synchronize the import,
but before, it makes sure no reroute
    via Replace Viewer is necessary.
A process in the Generic Naming is called to detect these
impacts. If impacts are found, the
    Replace Viewer is launched.
The replace operation is to replace the old geometry of the
import (the one based on the old
    Sketch) by the new geometry.
    .
The publication is broken as only 1 Edge of the Sketch is
    deleted.
Therefore only one face of the Solid is modified from a
Generic Naming point of view and publication cannot reroute
the new face of the geometry.
During the synchronization process, the Replace operation is
launched on the old geometry in order to replace it by the
    new geometry.
The broken Publication is a Publication of a face of the old
    geometry; therefore a Publication of
    the Replaced feature is ignored.
These are the generic specifications of the Replace command
    and of the Generic Naming
processes called by the Replace command.
    .
    Conclusion:
Changing the above specifications in V5 cannot be done in a
HOTFIX context because it implies a
totally new development, since it not only impacts all the
    Synchronization scenarios, but also all
the Replace scenarios .A new architecture has to be developed.
