Error description

  • SCENARIO:
    1. Start CATIA
    2. In Tools / Options / Drafting /
Dimensions make sure that ACTIVATE ANALYSIS DISPLAY MODE is
    selected.
    3. Open the CATDrawing file.
    4. The 2 dimensions in
the red circle are NOT associative to any geometry.
    These
dimensions should be shown as non-associative and in grey
    color.
    .
    5. However, the 2 dimensions are not displayed as
    non associative dimensions (grey)
    They are displayed in
    black.
    EXPECTED RESULT:
The 2 dimensions should be displayed
as non associative dimensions and in grey color.

  • INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS:
Even though there is no geometry projection for support of
dimension the dimension are shown in black color.
    .
In the provided document, the dimensions have been created on
    interactive points using the
    INTERSECTION POINT DETECTION mode.
    .
As a consequence, the dimensions are associated to the points
    generated at the detected intersection.
    .
The points generated by INTERSECTION POINT DETECTION mode
have a COINCIDENCE constraint with the 3D geometry projection
    in drawing view.
    .
Thus if the 3D geometry refering to the coincidence
constraint is modified or deleted, the co-incidence
constraint will be shown as broken or KO.
    .
As the dimension is still associated to the point correctly
it is being shown in black color. This is correct and
    expected behavior.
    .
If the point associated to dimension is deleted, the
dimension will immediately be shown in red color.
Thus current behavior is not a defect in CATIA.
    .
    .
    VALIDATION:
    - If the view containing the dimension is activated, the
coincidence constraints correctly show a broken status,
meaning their associativity has been lost.
    - A red color exclamation mark in a triangle is shown which
indicates that the co-incidence constraint is KO or broken.
