Error description

  • Scenario:
    .
    1. Unzip the contents into a suitable directory
    2. Start CATIA, and adjust Electrical Repository in
       TOOLS/OPTIONS/Equipment & systems/Electrical Process
Interfacing tab, to point to the directory where the unzipped
files are contained (defined as suitable directory at step 1)
    3. Switch to the Electrical Wire Routing tab, and verify that
set Bend radius according to the wires is set to Never
    4. Then press OK to close TOOLS/OPTIONS
    5. In CATIA open the ASSY.CATProduct from the directory created
       at step1
    6. Switch to the Electrical Wire Routing workbench if not
       already active
    7. Select the New Bundle command, and then select the bundle
in the geometry area, and finish the command by pressing OK
    8. Press the Select External Systems command
    9. Select the available system (1), press the top arrow (2),
       and then press OK (3)
    10. Press the Automatic Wire Routing command
    11. In the Wire and Wire group routing dialogue, press the top
       arrow to select the wires
    12. Then press the Route button

ERROR: Automatic Routing indicates that wires cannot be
routed. The report indicates that routes cannot be found for
    any wires.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR: The Automatic Wire Routing
export should indicate that all wires are successfully routed
Update command should be done correctly

    NOTE1:
Network assistant indicates that all segments are connected.
    Also a search for Electrical.'Bundle Segment'.'fully
connected'=FALSE indicates that all segments are indeed
    connected
    NOTE2:
If no Bundle Segments are created based on the external curves
( Entryline1-3 ) of the manifold, and the adjacent segments
are directly connected to the manifold - the routing is
successful. This potential workaround is however unacceptable
as it will lead to incorrect length.

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN CATIA
    Additional Closure Information:
The harness is made of Branches, Connectors and Mounting
Equipments. The Mounting Equipment contains curves that are
used as external curves for some Branches and three Bundle
Connection Points. This is not the kind of use the Mounted
Equipment is designed for. In fact, all the Bundle Connection
Points of a Mounting Equipment are considered as connected.
This improper use of Mounting Equipment and the automatic
data cleaner of Wire Routing command leads to a model where
the Wires fail to be routed.
    .
    Bypass:
    1. Remove the Bundle Connection Points (Electrical
publications) from the Mounting Equipment reference or Do not
use the Check Network option in the Wire Routing.
    2. Deactivate the Mounting Support and perform the wire
    routing.
