Problem conclusion
THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION V5R21 GA level. NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R20 SP4. Additional Closure Information: Incident Diagnosis: 3D Cut (DMU Optimzer) is removing part instead of cutting. Technical Explanation of the correction: Now we are throwing an error message and informing the user in case of non-watertight volumetric input to the 3DCut command. We have published an article in knowledge base to give more details regarding this message: QA00000007042 The input of the 3D Cut command is constituted of a tessellated data-set (triangulated data, or triangular mesh), as well as a 3D box defining the volume to cut. The 3D Cut command attempts to cut the selected tessellated data-set using the input 3D box. When it is run, the command identifies all those input volumes which are not closed. Once such a volume is identified, a warning message is now displayed regarding it, and the 3D Cut operation is completed as previously. The aim of this warning message is to explain why the 3DCut command sometimes appears to provide incorrect results even though the CATIA model appears to be OK. Note: If the warning pop-up is closed & the preview window is closed now Preview button is again clicked then the warning message won't be displayed. ByPass: Re-tessellating the input may help in running the command without any error message related to "open-volume". Check the knowledge article QA00000006132 for details.
