  in CATIA session

  Preparation
  .
  1. In SmarTeam, Tools + Options, the Work
  Directory is set as
  \\syd-nas\kennis\Production (please see
  ToolsOptionsWorkDirectory.jpg)
  2. On Windows Explorer, we have a map drive W
  designated such that
  W is \\syd-nas\kennis\
  Therefore, the Work Directory in Windows Exporer
  can be accessed
  via W:\Production
  3. In CATIA, Tools+Options+General+Document, it
  is set as shown in
  pictureToolsOptionsDocument.jpg
  4. Attached please find the 6 CATParts for the
  illustration (TestSamples.zip)
  118F-0003-0004.CATPart
  118F-0003-0020.CATPart
  118F-0013-0004.CATPart
  118F-0281-0004.CATPart
  118F-0282-0003.CATPart
  118F-0301-0008.CATPart
  5. Please SmarTeam+Save the 118F-0281-
  004.CATPart. Then CheckIn it. Because they are all
  CCP linked together, the above operation will
  put them all into the Vault
  6. Now checkout 118F-0281-004.CATPart.
  7. If we do a ST Search for CATParts, that will
  show as in picture
  ST-1.jpg
  8. Now proceed the next.

  2. SmarTeam + Connect
  3. First of all, File + Open the six CATParts in ST
  Work directory
  using map drive (W:\Production) Please see
  File+Open.jpg
  4. File + Desk It will show the link structure. It's OK
  (please see picture File+Desk1.jpg)
  5. Next, SmarTeam + Find + Find Documents +
  CATIA Parts
  6. Now open the Checkouted 118F-0281-
  004.CATPart and the rest of the
  five CATParts (all by MB3+Open)
  7. File + Desk. It indicates duplicate entries of the
  six CATParts
  .
  Expected result: there should be no duplicate
  entries in File desk

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
  CATIA
  Restriction Explanation
  .
  Here we have 2 cases to handle which
  unfortunately clash with each other.
  .
  1. In regular File-based CATIA session, document
  with same UUIDs (unique Identifiers) are not
  allowed to get opened twice even though their path
  are different.
  2. But in ST 2 different version of same documents
  have same UUIDs. Further it is allowed to open the
  2 version of same document from 2 different paths
  even though they have sameUUIDs.
  .
  So, now if we provide a check on basis of UUIDs,
  the ST functionality of opening two version from
  two different path will get broken.
  a. This code is also used by many WorkBenches in
  CV5, which may also get broken.
  b. Further there is no provision to ascertain
  whether both paths refer to same destination.
  .
  Providing a solution for this will break existing
  functionality in ST.
  It may also affect funtionality of other
  WorkBenches.
  .
