Error description

  • GSD : "Fill" which is not planar is created
although "Planar Boundary Only" is set.
    1) Start CATIA V5R18
    2) Open the CATPart attached to the PMR
    (Workbench : "Generative Shape Design")
    3) Create the "Fill".
3.1) Select "Line.1" as "Boundary" from the tree.
3.2) Activate "Planar Boundary Only" check box.
    ==>>This is key point!!
    3.3) Select "Line.2", "Line.3", "Line.4"
    as "Boundary" from the tree.
    3.4) Click OK
    >>"Fill.1" is created.
    4) Change the "Work Object" into "Join.1".
    5) Click "Join.1" and select "Define In Work
    Object" from the context menu.
    6) Create the "Fill".
    6.1) Click "Fill" icon.
6.2) Select "Join.1" as "Boundary" from the tree.
6.3) Activate "Planar Boundary Only" check box.
    6.4) Click OK
    >>"Fill.2" is created.
    7) Edit "Line.3".
7.1) Double click "Line.3" from the tree.
    >>"Line Definition" dialog box is displayed.
7.2) Change the "Point 2:" as shown the pdf
    attached to the PMR.
The change is to get a none planar surface.
    >>"Update Error" window is displayed.
    7.3) Click OK
    7.4) Click OK
    >>"Update Diagnosis: Part1" window is displayed
    and
    "Fill.2" fall in Error.
    < Result >
"Fill.1" is created although "Planar Boundary Only"
    is active.
    >>>This is problem.
    < Expected Result >
"Fill.1" which is not planar should not be created
    when
    "Planar Boundary Only" is active.
(In the case of scenario, "Fill.1" as well as "Fill.2"
    should Fall
    in Error.)
The Fill construction with lines is done correctly with
a planar option set. If a line is change to get a
none planar surface, CATIA do not recognize the
wrong surface state (none planar) and the fill is
    done.

Comments

  • Incident Diagnosis
In case of many boundaries input in the
    Fill
command, the option is not valid and not planar
    Fill
    surface created is not detected.
    Correct Application
The planar boundary option works only for a single
    input
boundary. This is documented for the Fill
    functionnality: "You
    can check Planar Boundary
Only to fill only planar boundaries,
    when the
boundary is defined by one curve on one surface.
