HD77929: FTA (PRODUCT) DIMENSION BECOMES ERROR WHEN THE DATA IS

APAR status

• Closed as duplicate of another APAR.

Error description

• FTA (Product) / Dimension becomes Error when the
  data is opened
  .
  Process
  1) Start CATIA V5R17SP03.
  2) Open the file : "TOP_ASSY.CATProduct".
  Dimension is not error. Dimension color is White.
  This is the right result.
  3) Create the dimension.
  3-1) Click "Dimension" icon.
  3-2) Select the edge which figure shows.
  3-3) Select the edge which figure shows.
  Result1: Dimension color is White. Dimension can
  be created without Error.
  This is the right behavior.

  .
  Process
  1) Start CATIA V5R18SP05.
  2) Open the file : "TOP_ASSY.CATProduct".
  Problem : Dimension is Error. The color of
  Dimension is Black. This is the problem.
  3) Create the dimension.
  3-1) Click "Dimension" icon.
  3-2) Select the edge which figure shows.
  3-3) Select the edge which figure shows.
  Dimension color is Black. Error Dimension is
  created.
  This is the problem

  Important Information:
  This Problem occurs oNly with section view created
  on the selected Plane. IF front view is created
  associative to same reference, problem is not
  reproduced.
  .
  Check the "Diagnostic Report" of Error dimension.
  Defined rule : Annotation Plane Validity
  Description : The annotation plane is not suitable.
  Correction : Transfer the annotation to another
  view.

• THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE ANOTHER SYMPTOM OF
  THE PROBLEM REPORTED IN HD67071. OR
  THE ANSWER MADE FOR THIS DUPLICATE APAR APPLIES ALSO
  TO THE CURRENT PROBLEM
  .
  Restriction Explanation
  .
  The dimension is being created on the positive normal
  direction of the Section view. The Geometry selected is 0.03
  mm away from the Section View Plane. And the Dimension is
  attached to Geometry.
  .
  In case of Section View, the geometry selected for annotation
  creation should always be behind the plane of the Section
  View.
  If Annotation is behind the plane of the Section View, only
  then
  it can be imported to Drawing using View from 3D.
  .
  This is because Current Behavior of Black Dimension is due to
  correction provided through APAR HD67071 (BR10000052849)
  .
  Secondly while creating New Dimension, Warning Message is
  shown informing users that Annotation will be Black. This
  correction of warning message was given through APAR
  HD75713 (BR10000061069) for same customer.

  Answer and By-Pass
  Create the dimension on by selecting another View (Front view
  or Section view with inverted normal as that of the current
  Section view
