Error description

  • Edit Links replace with loaded document fails with `
the link refused the document `
    SCENARIO :
    1. Create the following assembly structure in VPM:
    / - PART = CATPART
    ASSY
    \ - PART = CATPART
Attach a CATPart to each of the parts in VPM.
    2. Open the assembly in CATIA V5 and create a
Drawing with a view from the assembly. Store the
    CATDrawing in VPM.
RESULT -----> The Drawing is linked to the
Product. This is expected and is OK. At the VPM
level this structure is fine, and all the Edit Links /
    replace etc options work.
    3. Open the assembly created in step 1 from VPM
into CATIA V5. Save the CATProduct to file base
using File / Save As. Close the CATProduct.
    4. Open the CATDrawing created in step 2 from
VPM into CATIA V5. Save the CATDrawing to file
base using File / Save As. Close the CATDrawing.
    5. Open the file based CATDrawing created in
step.4 in V5 and select Edit / Links / Replace.
Select the file based CATProduct created in step.3
from the file selection dialog box.
    RESULT :
Error : Error " "The link refused the document"
occurs and the Replace command does not work.
    EXPECTED RESULT:
Since the CATProduct stored from VPM to file base
have the same UUID, the replace command should
work and the product should be replaced without
    an error.

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
    CATIA
    INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS:
Edit Links replace with loaded document fails with
    .
    RESTRICTION EXPLANATION:
In fact, the catproduct doesn't have the same UUID
since when you save in structure exposed mode
the root CATProduct is not stored in VPM. So when
you reload an assembly the root catproduct is built
on the fly and its part number is set with the
informations sent by VPM. But it is not the same
CATProduct that was pointed at the beginning by
the CATDrawing. So there is no chance it works.
