IGS : FILE CREATED IS TOO BIG COMPARED TO THE SOURCE ONE Scenario: 1. Open CATPart in CATIA 2. Unhide all elements in the tree. 3. File-Save As and select *.igs as the extention Result: The IGS file generated is 65 times more important than the original CATPart .

THIS APAR IS CONSIDERED AS A SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT FOR CATIA. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPORT DEPARTMENT IN ORDER TO OPEN A REQUIREMENT FORM. Incident Diagnosis The data is not corrupted. Data are very large (BSpline surface definition) and each face using this data needs to copy all the support informations in the IGES file (surfaces are duplicated). Development Request Justification A development could be done on this topic. An option could be put in place when exporting IGES file. But, such a development would be managed by an Enhancemnet Request with industrialisation tests. Answer and By-Pass It is possible to use the CAA service; "CATSurFittingToNurbsSur" service could be an option in IGES export process .
