Error description

  • Scenario:
1- File / Open the provided CATProduct
    4100057146C01_DRW_C5B.CATProduct
    - A message displays to say that a CATPart
is missing. But if the Desk is checked, no CATPart
is missing, so it could be a ghost link.
2- you can not switch from visualisation to design
    mode.
3 -Execute CATDUA batch on on all CATParts and
    CATProducts and one additional interactive
CATDUA (from desk within CATIA, on top-level-
node) it is possible to switch into design mode.
    .
To have the white axis icon appear it is necessary
to select the part node. To switch this part or
instance into design mode and restore visibility it is
necessary to double-click or use the context menu.
    .
    4. Load assembly in CATIA an execute CATDUA
from "Desk" (interactive, on top level node).
=> After executing the final CATDUA interactively,
it is possible to switch the part instances into
    Design Mode.
==> Why does CATDUA not clean all errors?
    - Is the difference between interactive and batch
    CATDUA documented?
    - Why is it necessary to restore the part instance
    status by manual interaction?
    .
    .

Comments

  • THE PROBLEM WAS SUBMITTED ON CATIA
    VERSION 5 RELEASE 18.
THIS PROBLEM IS NOT REPRODUCIBLE ON CATIA
    VERSION 5 RELEASE 19 SP01 LEVEL.
    .
    Incident Diagnosis:
Some Part Instances were not able to Switch from
    Visu mode to Design Mode.
    .
    Reason:
In this APAR the root cause was in
    1000107939C01_DCA_C5P.CATPart.
    .
The broken part instance has its reference in
respective CATPart. But they does not contain the
    desired ProdCont.
    .
The UUID on the link is different that of the one in
    the part.
    .
For example, Removing the original ABCD.CATPart
file and renaming another one to ABCD.CATPart
    or
Manipulations of CATPart directly under File
Manager (maybe by the user of non DS PDM
    system):
might generate this type of issue.
    .
In such cases, our recommendation is to use the
interactive Replace command to change a CATPart
    by another one.
i.e for this APAR to fix , we just need to Replace the
    respective instance by corresponding CATPart
    (using Edit->Links) - and then do File ->Desk ->
    CATDUA .
    .
    This makes the scenario UR.
    .
    NOW Regarding the Queries,
    a. Why does CATDUA not clean all errors?
Please check the documentation mentioned below
to check the limitations on CATDUA.
    .
b.Is the difference between interactive and batch
    CATDUA documented?
Answer : The link shows the difference in using
CATDUA in batch as well as Desk.
See CATIA Infrastructure User Guide / Running
Batches / Using the CATDUAV5 in the CATIA V5
    documentation
    .
c.Why is it necessary to restore the part instance
    status by manual interaction?
Answer: this is the available solution to
interactively select and update the broken part
instance link. which otherwise cannot be known by
    catia itself.
