• ASD: PRODUCT LINK IS BROKEN WHEN SAVING A
  CATPART OVERWRITING ANOTHER CATPART WITH
  THE SAME NAME CONSISTING THE PRODUCT
  Scenario:
  Preparation: Set up Option as follows: Work with
  the Cache system is checked.
  Step1 Open TOP_PROD.CATProduct.
  Step2 Check that Link and a tree component are
  normal.
  Step3 Close TOP_PROD.CATProduct.
  Step4 Open BBB.CATPart.
  Step5 Save BBB.CATPart by the name of
  AAA.CATPart.
  Note:Please push Yes to that message to overwrite.
  Step6 Close BBB.CATPart.
  Step7 Open TOP_PROD.CATProduct.
  Step8 Expand tree.
  Result: It does not change to Design Mode. The link
  between Product and Part
  has broken. And CGR of changed CATpart is shown
  Expected Result:
  Broken links is expected behavior due to different
  UUID, but CGR of BBB.CATPart should not
  displayed.

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
  CATIA
  Incident Diagnosis:
  When a part (say first part) is opened and SAVE AS
  by a same name of some other part (say second
  part), this second part belongs to a product.
  When this product has been opened in a CACHE
  mode ON, we are able to visualize in the
  workspace the first part (instead of second since it
  is overwritten by first). This first part cannot be
  turned to design mode since the links are broken
  and the part is not loaded due to different UUID.
  However if first part is not able to turned to design
  mode it should also not be visualize.
  Restriction Explanation:
  When this part is tried to change to design mode its
  part reference is unable to load because of
  different UUID (Unique Universal Identifier).
  However when a product is opened in a CGR mode,
  CATIA able to find instance reference link
  (information in the product aggregating the part
  instance) to decide its visualization, hence CATIA is
  able to find local Cache CGR is available and up to
  date; hence CGR is displayed. This is a limitation in
  CATIA.
