Problem summary
Electrical (EHF) - Electrical software error inside the flatten command Scenario : 1- File / Open the CATProduct file 2- Create a new Product and go to Electrical Harness Flattening workbench 3- Define Flattening parameters 4- Extract the model in the new CATProduct 5- Flatten the 3D model with use of the "Select All Branches" command (select the fixed point at the begining of the harness) 6- Select OK Result : The following error message appears : Electrical Software Error inside the Flatten command Expected Result : Flattening should be done without error message. .
Problem conclusion
THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION 5 RELEASE 19 GA LEVEL. NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R18SP04 Incident Diagnosis The behavior is dependant on Extract option. With Extract New From, Extract is OK, Flatten is OK without Electrical Software Error, but there are some update errors on protections on doing Update after Flatten. There is one more problem - there is one support through which 3 BNSs are routed. After flatten, support remains on route of 1 BNS and green lines are created for showing links between the other 2 BNSs and this support. The position of green lines was incorrect. With Extract through Synchronize, Extract is OK, Flatten is OK and Update after Flatten is also OK. Though 5 protections are not extracted with this option and they are listed in the error table of the Extract html report. It is because they have broken external references in 3D Design. It is not possible to understand why some protections have broken external references or bad pointings to extremities. Correction Explanation Extract New From : A correction has been done to get the green lines at the good position. For update errors on protections after flatten, the reason is bad data for these protections in 3D Design. Some of these protections have broken external references and for others, their end point external references point to the wrong extremity point of wrong branchables (they point branchables which are not covered by this protection). Since the design data is bad, there is no way to correct this problem automatically during Extract New From + Flatten. The good way to correct this problem is explained in the by-pass section. Answer and By-Pass With option 'Extract New From' : On Update after Flatten, an update diagnostic comes. User can use center graph to find the protection having problem and then desactivate these protections. At the end these protections should be deleted from 3D Flatten view. This way the user gets the list of protections which have bad data in 3D Design. Then user can find these protections in 3D Design and correct them using edit protection command for example. Now, the design data is correct and user can simply use Synchronize command in 3D Flatten and these protections will be added in the 3D Flatten view. With 'Extract through Synchronize' : 5 protections are not extracted and they are listed in the error table of Extract html report. User can correct these 5 protections in 3D Design. Once the 3D Design is corrected, user can redo the Extract, or if he has already created the flattened layout, he can do Synchronize also to get these protections in 3D Flatten view. .
