HD70370: AFTER APPLIED A NEW SERVICE PACK TO SMARTEAM, ST VIEWER D OESN'T WORK CORRECTLY RE-INSTALLATION OF ST VIEWER IS NEEDED

Error description

  • After applied a new Service Pack to SmarTeam, ST
    Viewer       doesn't work correctly  Re-installation
    of ST Viewer is needed
    < Scenario >
    1. Install SMARTEAM Editor V5R17
    2. Apply Service Pack R17SP6
    3. Install SMARTEAM Viewer(19.1SP2)
    4. Launch Editor
    ... In some Document tree, Add "Document" of a
    sample PDF.
    The File type
    is set as PDF. Then Check-In and Release it.
    5. Show a PDF file with SMARTEAM Viewer.
    OK: there is no problem.
    6. Exit Editor normally.
    7. Apply Service Pack R17SP7
    8. Launch Editor
    9. Show a PDF file with SMARTEAM Viewer.
    KO: a following error appears.

    Setup has detected that one or more of the
    SMARTEAM core modules
    is
    being held by an external application. Please close
    any
    application
    that might be using the SMARTEAM core modules
    and click Retry to
    continue the installation.
    Click Cancel to abort.

    Then click Cancel.
    10. Install SMARTEAM Viewer(19.1SP2) as fix
    11. Launch Editor
    12. Show a PDS file with SMARTEAM Viewer.
    OK: there is no problem.

    Applying SMARTEAM service packs should not
    break an environment of
    SMARTEAM Viewer.

    < Reason why a correction is needed >
    The customers have so many clients. For now,
    applying service packs
    of
    SMARTEAM causes broken environments of
    SMARTEAM Viewer 19.1 SP2.
    Therefore they should re-install SMARTEAM Viewer
    19.1 SP2 and it
    costs
    many workloads.

    VERSION 5 RELEASE 17.
    THIS PROBLEM IS NOT REPRODUCIBLE ON
    SMARTEAM VERSION 5 RELEASE 19 GA LEVEL.
    This issue is explicitly documented in the RN of
    both R17 SP6 and R17 SP7, and the RN explain
    what to install (and from where).
