Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT
    RESTRICTION IN CATIA
    .
    Incident Diagnosis:
Opening by right click or enter key, of two
or more read only CATIA documents
through multi selection in windows explorer
    invokes only one document
    .
    Restriction Explanation:
The above two cases are restriction in
    current CATIA file open behavior.
The basic operating system behavior while
you open a CATIA document from a right
click menu or an Enter key is to open a
CATIA application So, if we consider your
request, when the two or more read only
files are opened by following two methods
    shown below,
    a) Selecting all the files & press enter key
    b) Selecting all the files, right click & then
press open tabthen CATIA would be
    invoked that much times separately.
    .
Now suppose user wants to open 100 read
only files by above mentioned way then
CATIA would be invoked 100 times
separately. The result would be a hang of
the system and would result in not opening
the files. So opening of separate CATIA
sessions for each of the files has been
restricted. Only one file is opened in one
    session.
The way to open multiples documents in a
single CATIA session is to use Drag and
    Drop capabilities.
    .
    By-Pass:
Opening of multiple read only documents
through multi selection is possible through
    drag drop.
    .
