Error description

  • INST : PHOTO STUDIO : NEED TO PROVIDE
    MSVCR70DLL FILE WHILE INSTALLING SATELLITE
    AGENT
    .
    Scenario:
    1. User is having normal V5R17SP05 installed on
one machine (for example machine name
    cyk32plp)
    2. User is having one another machine which has
V5R17GA satellite agent installed. (suppose this
    machine has name bto111plp)
    3. User informed me that whenever he tried to add
bto111plp as satellite to cyk32plp, he is getting
    following errors:
    on cyk32plp :
    "CNEXT - CATRdgPlugin - NetworkERR_006"
"Adding satellite:Could not get satellite data before
    timeout end Check
    satellite install.?
    on bto111plp:
"CATRdgSatellite.exe - DLL is not found" "Dynamic
    Link Library
MSVCR70.dll is not found in defined Path .."
    4. User thinks that the absence of MSVCR70.dll ,
    MFC70U.dll ,
MSVCI70.dll files on bto111plp may be the root
    cause.
    .
User draws this conclusion because when they run
the CATRdgSatellite.exe, it calls the MSVCR70.dll.
By default machine installed with normal CV5 (such
    as R17Sp05)this dll
    file provided inside "C:\R17SP05win\code\bin"
folder. But the problem comes when there is no
MSVCR70.dll available on satellite agent. To bypass
this problem, copy pate these dll files on bto111plp,
and problem gets solved after reboot. ( also
    defining the "C:\R17SP05win\code\bin" path to
windows environment variable "Path" will do the
trick. It can be a by-pass if the satellite PC also has
installed normal CV5, but normally, the PC is
installed only the agent program without CV5.)
    .
    Expected result:
Here User demands that satellite agent should also
provide these dlls while its installation.
    .
    .

Comments

  • THE PROBLEM WAS SUBMITTED ON :
    CATIA VERSION 5 RELEASE 19.
THIS PROBLEM IS NOT REPRODUCIBLE ON :
CATIA VERSION 5 RELEASE 19 GA level AND ON
    V5R18SP02
    .
Scenario reproduc on reported R17SP05 level.
Scenario do not reproduce on above mentioned
    levels.
    .
    Additional Explanation:
On R18 levels and onwards, the compiler level is
changed to VC8, so MSVCR70.dll is not needed
    anymore.
Instead MSVCR80.dll is needed, but startsat
already copies the file in C:\windows\WinSXS
which normally is listed in the PATH, and thus can
    be found by the satellite.
