  • PROBLEM:
    'CATCreateTopCleanCrvOpe' in CATIAV5R17 is
    slower than in CATIAV5R16.
    .
    SCENARIO on R16:
    01. Compile attached work space under ?R16? by
    CATIAV5R16 and start up CATIA.
    02. Open the attached data
    (XXXXCAD00932_2.CATPart).
    03. Run 'MyTest1'.
    04. Pick the face (First one in the Spec Tree).
    05. Pick the curve (First one in the Spec Tree).
    Then the process time of
    CATCreateTopCleanCrvOpe is saved in
    c:\XXXCAD00932_R16.txt
    .
    06. Continue the step 3,4,5 for other pair of face
    and curve simaltaneously.
    Check the process time for other data.
    .

    01. Compile attached work space under ?R17? by
    CATIAV5R17 and start up CATIA.
    02. Open the attached data
    (XXXXCAD00932_2.CATPart).
    03. Run 'MyTest1'.
    04. Pick the face (First one in the Spec Tree).
    05. Pick the curve (First one in the Spec Tree).
    Then the process time of
    CATCreateTopCleanCrvOpe is saved in

    RESULT:
    The difference between the work space ?R16
    and ?R17? is only file path of saved text file. But the
    process time of CATCreateTopCleanCrvOpe in
    CATIAV5R17 is about 3 times slower than in
    CATIAV5R16.

    THIS APAR IS CONSIDERED AS A SUGGESTION
    FOR IMPROVEMENT WHICH CANNOT BE
    INCORPORATED IN VERSION 5 R18.
    .
    Explanation:
    The performance regression is due to an
    improvement in the shape's result (such as arcs
    number reduction, Comb improved).
    The customer's curves have a huge number of
    arcs, so it's take a long time to know if we can
    suppress them.
    Some works will be done in the next releases to
    improve CPU time, but we can not certify that we
    will retrieve the R16 perfomance in these cases.

    Answer and By-Pass
    Approximate the input curves to reduce the number
    of arcs.
