Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
    CATIA
    .
    Incident Diagnosis
Isometric View is copied in Powerpoint even if front
    view is copied.
    .
    Restriction Explanation
This behavior is specific to "Paste with Link". In the
APAR scenario case, the application (Powerpoint)
does not copy the dead image that is copied in the
clipboard but only copies its origin
(CATIA/part1.CATPart) and asks CATIA to provide
an up to date image with a default view point.
Indeed, since user copies the image in the
    clipboard using CATIA/Tools/Image/Capture,
should also have added a hole to the part for
instance. If user then uses "Paste with link" option
in Word or Powerpoint, application will ask CATIA
for an up to date image (with default viewpoint)
and insert a holed part. If user uses only
standard "Paste", application will copy the dead
(non holed image), which is first copied in clipboard.
    .
Even after having copied the link, user may modify
the part in V5, and in Powerpoint, ask to update the
link (context menu on the image): an up to date
image (with default viewpoint) will come replacing
    the old image.
    .
The bug reported is a Powerpoint 2000 bug :
Powerpoint 2000 uses the "paste with link" option
as the default Paste behavior. This seems to have
    been corrected in Powerpoint 2003.
Please note that this behavior is not restricted to
Powerpoint application. Same thing happens also
with Word 2003, but it is not the "by default" Copy
    behabior as for Powerpoint.
    .
    By-Pass
1 - A by pass may be to use "Paste Special" and
choose another option than "paste with link" check
    the "Paste" check box.
2 - Another bypass is to copy in non bugged
    application (as powerpoint/word 2003, perhaps
paint,... ) and recopy the image from this
    intermediate application in Powerpoint 2000.
    .
