  SCENARIO:
  1) Start CATIA.
  2) Open NULCAD00778.CATPart
  3) Start the join and specify edges of the window in
  the surface.
  .
  OBSERVATION:
  Inputting the edges takes very long time during
  Join command.
  .

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION
  5 RELEASE 18 GA level.
  NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED
  ON V5R17SP05.
  .
  Incident Diagnosis:
  At selection, the command launches validations to
  see whether the selected element is good to be
  added to the model. We often check whether it's an
  object that we have already selected. During
  comparisons we used a Generic Naming service that
  is computationnaly expensive. Hence the bad
  performance.
  .
  Correction Explanation:
  We now compare the features with a different
  method. This is much faster.
  .
  Answer and By-Pass
  In some commands, selecting the features to add
  before launching the command avoids launching all
  the comparisons and allows better performances.
  .
