Problem conclusion
THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION 5 RELEASE 18 GA level. NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R17SP05. . Incident Diagnosis MODIFY LINKS FOR SECTION VIEW DOES NOT GIVE CORRECT DISPLAY OF SECTION VIEW . Correction Explanation: A warning panel has been added. It will appear when selecting the "Add all" button. . Warning Message : The reference product to be taken into account is going to change. Updating the view, the projection plane (origin and/or orientation) may change. As a result, some inconsistencies may appear between modified view and linked views (between section callout and resulting section view, detail callout and....) . Explanation regarding the warning panel and current behavior : . When creating a view of a whole CATProduct, all the assembly transformations are taken into account while projecting the 3D geometry in the drawing. But, when creating a view of a sub-part of a CATProduct, not all the assembly transformations are taken into account. Because the view mustn't be impacted by a modification done in the CATProduct somewhere else than under the sub-part, the entry point when updating and positioning is the common father of the view's links. Example: Create a Part1.CATPart Create a Part2.CATPart Create a Product1.CATProduct containing the Part1 Create a Product2.CATProduct containing the Part2 Create a Product3.CATProduct containing Product1 and Product2 Move Product1 and Product2 in Product3 (translation, rotation) Create a Drawing1.CATDrawing . Create a view of a Subpart of Product3 selecting Part1.1 The entry point when updating and positioning the view is Part1.1. If the position of the Product1 is changed in 3D, the view is still up-to-date. That's the correct behavior. Using the Modify Links command user're able to add the Part2.1 to the view's links. Because user want the view to be impacted by a modification of the position of the 2 Parts, the entry point is changed to the Product3. But, the modification of the entry point has the effect of changing the number of transformations to take into account. Thats why the projection plane (origin and/or orientation) may change. Then, some inconsistencies may appear between modified view and linked views (between section callout and resulting section view, detail callout and....) . In such a case, a warning panel has been added. It will appear when selecting the "Add all" button. (Hence it is PER closure) . For getting the desired result by "Modify Links", There is a need of an impacting development that cannot be done in V5R18. We're not able to change this behavior without changing the way we create views and the management of the up-to-date status. This development request has currently no targeted release. . By-Pass: In the user case, that's better to use the overload properties command instead of the modify links one. The overload command allows user to put in a 'no use' status the 2 part instances user don't want to see in the view. User will get the expected result. .
