Problem conclusion
THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN CATIA . As mentionned in the online documentation: Importing files, Import command in STL workbench is limited up to 10000 points in case of clouds of points, and has no limitation in case of meshes. STL workbench is dedicated to manage meshes (with up to several millions of vertices) and not clouds of points.Managing (large) clouds of points requires DSE workbench that is specially dedicated to this process. .
