GPS : The maximum 'Von Mises Stress' value is not changed even if Young modulus balue has been changed. . SCENARIO: 1) Open the provided CATAnalysis into GSA Workbench RESULT: Value of maximal VM stress is 2.84654E8 N_m2 2) Double-click on the CATPart. Workbench is changed to 'GSD'. 3) Double-click 'Steel'. 4) Select 'Analysis' tab and change the value of 'Young Modulus' into 1N_m2. 5) Click 'OK'. 6) Double-click 'Finite Element Model.1'. 7) MB3 on 'Von Mises Stress.1' and select 'Activate/Deactivate' by context menu. 8) Click 'OK'. 9) MB3 on 'Extrema' and select 'Local Update' by context menu. PROBLEM: The maximum 'Von Mises Stress' value is not changed. .

THIS PROBLEM IS CONSIDERED AS A USER ERROR. . Incident Diagnosis The maximum Von Mises Stress value is not changed even if Young modulus value has been changed . Correct Application The maximun stress in this case is : sigma = Mf / ( I / v ) where : Mf is the bending moment I the inertia v the maximun distance to the neutral fiber.
