  • THIS APAR IS CONSIDERED AS A SUGGESTION
    FOR IMPROVEMENT WHICH CANNOT BE
    INCORPORATED IN VERSION V5R16

    Incident Diagnosis
This IR reflects a technical limitation of our current
    (Human Builder) architecture. Explanation follows.
When the 'New From' command is executed, the
manikin created acts as if it was a new manikin
(which is really the case). However, this new
manikin is not able to assign the old manikin's data
to itself, because the new manikin has a different
ID (in fact, each manikin has a unique ID). It
therefore behaves as any new manikin would, that
is, it goes to the default posture and position.
To be able to overcome this limitation, we would
have to reconsider our architecture. We are NOT
saying that this is not possible; it IS possible, but
we cannot do this kind of work at this stage of
    V5R15 or V5R16.
We understand that this issue comes from a
customer, but because of the complexity of the
change that would be required to make this work,
such a technical change will have to be addressed
    only in a new release.
This IR will therefore have to be treated as an
enhancement request. We will log the issue in our
    internal suggestions list.
    Development Request Justification
    See above.
    Answer and By-Pass
For the current release, we may recommend that
the user (customer) use catalogs as a
workaround. That is, the user could save all
relevant manikin parameters in a catalog, then,
once the 'New From' is done, open the catalog
previously saved, and apply the correct data
(posture, anthropometry, position, ...) to the new
    manikin created.
