Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
    CATIA
    .
    Incident Diagnosis:
ASSEMBLY DESIGN Some files are not loaded while
opening a product. Then, once manually loaded,
    parts are not visible
    .
    Restriction Explanation:
The scenario deals with different problems.
The main problem is that data are corrupted. Part
files are not the ones expected by the Product.
They have the right name, can be located on the
file system, but contains internal information
that are not compliant with what the product file
    expected.
    .
It is possible that some files have been directly
replaced with others (same name) by the customer
    into the file system.
If so, it is not a good thing, and this
manipulation is not supported by CATIA.
Files can be replaced with a file with the same
name only if this file has been generated by a
Save As command of the first one.
    .
In such corruption cases, Replace command has to
    be used directly.
Using File Desk is useless. From CATIA point of
view, replacing Parts will be completely different
    from the ones expected.
    .
However, for complex reasons, the replace
    command
fails partially and the geometry is not displayed
at the end of the command.
Replace command is not able to clean all problems.
After that command, Data not to be cleaned again.
Then, when reopened, Geomerty will appear
    normally.
    .
A last word concerns the "Replace All references"
    option.
When the reference can not be found or corrupted
(CATPart file), option is of no use, because we
are not able to find all instances of the reference.
So, the Replace has to be performed on all the
    instances, one by one.
    .
    By-Pass:
Perform replace commands (in desk/links) on all
    needed Parts.
    Save everything.
Perform cleaner operation on the Product file. Save
    and reopen the product.
    .
